Inverness Harbour  -  Segregated Waste Provision

Vessel Crew information

 Two new 1100 litre, blue Eurocarts with orange lids, have been additionally provided at Inverness Harbour.

These are for recyclable material only and can take;

·  Paper/Magazines

·  Cardboard  ( please flatten.)

·  Plastic Bottles (empty)

·  Cans & Tins (empty)

There is no need to segregate any of the above types of waste on board prior to putting loose in the blue/orange Eurocarts.

(Due to the pleasingly large amounts of cardboard already received ashore for recycling, we are retaining the present stand alone green Eurocarts that are dedicated for cardboard.)

Restrictions

Black plastic bags used to move the above types of waste from the vessel must be emptied or split when filling the blue/orange Eurocarts.

No black plastic bags can be put in the Eurocart. These must be disposed of in the adjacent, main, large blue skips provided for general waste.

The following also cannot be accepted in the blue/orange Eurocarts;

·  No Plastic disposable cups (either clear or polysterene.)

·  No Hard plastic bottle tops.

·  No General ships waste.

·  No Glass.

We are trying hard as a Harbour to maximise the amount of ships waste that can be recycled.

Many of the vessels visiting the Harbour already segregate waste and we are pleased to offer a new reception facility for this.

Unfortunately if unsuitable or general waste is wrongly put in the blue/orange Eurocarts then the whole load will be rejected for recycling and have to be land-filled instead.

Please ask your ships crews to make use of our new facility and to observe the few minor restrictions.
